In the End
I did not see terror in your eyes, I only heard about it,
but I felt ripples through the phone.
From across the world, my own tomorrow, it shook me off my feet
to know in the end we must die alone.
I’m sick with love for everything, for all that lives on this Earth.
I hate to say goodbye, hate to feel your pain.
It hurts like glass, but I’ll stay awake and reach the other side because
I’d rather see blood than ice in my veins.
Love is hard in this heartless world, it’s far easier to be cold.
Empathy always ends in tears,
but connections are what keep us alive and the only comfort we have
when we face the final fear.
