Overtaken by time, symbolised by a wall clock hanging above a desk.

Overtaken by Time

The world becomes small, as my brain shrinks
from its responsibility.
The easy path leads me around the garden
and back to the beginning.
While I could search for solutions to create a future
I solve puzzles instead.
When thinking is hard and pushing seems pointless
it’s time to make lunch.
I didn’t mean to be lazy and stupid and old, but the leaves
flutter in the breeze.
The sun lulls, the ocean soothes and the bottle says relax.
Life is too good.
The days and the years accelerate by, and I
feel left behind.
